#9 - The Nobodies Album by Carolyn Parkhurst

I've read another book by this author, Lost and Found, and also really enjoyed it. Couldn't get into her first one though. This one is about a famous writer whose rock-star son is arrested for murdering his girlfriend. Literary, but very enjoyable, and believable.

I didn't get much reading done when I was in England as, per usual, I spent most of my time reading trashy British magazines (I am obsessed when there!). I did buy a few books though, and did actually read one, mostly while in Paris when I was in solitude.

I couldn't put this one down. It's been a long time since I have been so immersed in a new world (didn't hurt that I read it at the lake, which is where you go to immerse yourself in books). Book No. 39  The Sparrow by Mary Doria Russell

I found this book to be haunting in it's brilliance and in it's view of societies and religion.  I studied anthropology in university for a year and this book takes the reader on a view of a never before discovered world and allows the reader to be the anthropologist.  But even better than the stumbling ( Read more... )
